AUTHOR INTERVIEW FRIDAY – WITH K.D. HILT

Hello! Today with us we have the amazing K.D. Hilt! *Applause*

Angelina: Introduce yourself please.

K.D. Hilt: Hello I’m K.D. Hilt.

Angelina: Did someone inspire you to become an author?

K.D. Hilt: I was inspired by my older sister who would make up stories for us when we were kids.

Angelina: How long does it take for you to write a story?

K.D. Hilt: Depends on the story. I’ve written some in a month but my works in progress are taking a couple years because they are longer.

Angelina: Where do you get your information or ideas for your books?

K.D. Hilt: I research a lot for my information and get the ideas from really anything happening around me. I’m a Criminal Justice and history major so if I’m writing a mystery I’ll sometimes go through textbooks if I get stuck. A lot of times what I write will also reflect emotions I’m dealing with. I will also just randomly start thinking of ideas and don’t even know where they come from. I just zone out and end up with a new idea.

Angelina: What does your family think of your writing?

K.D. Hilt: I think they like it, they all said they liked it or loved it, but we may never know for sure.

Angelina: How many books have you written? Which is your favorite?

K.D. Hilt: 7 short stories. My favorite would be A Homemade Holiday or Hope for Valentine’s Day.

Angelina: Who’s your favorite character you created?

K.D. Hilt:  My true favorite is in a work in progress (it’s the bad boy), but out of the ones I have out, it would be Ryder or Jason from my short story series.

Angelina: Who’s your least favorite character you created?

K.D. Hilt: Again it’s in a work in progress (it’s the bad king), but in tiny series that is out, it would be Cain.

Angelina: Do you hear from your readers much? What kinds of things do they say?

K.D. Hilt:  Not to often mainly there’s a few specific reader that contact me. They all say really good things about the characters and stories. Most let me know Jason or Ryder and Makayla are their favorite characters or which book they like.

Angelina: What do you think makes a good story?

K.D. Hilt: A story that keeps attention and doesn’t go fast there’s a good plot and not just lacking substance. There should also be a high and low for characters.

Angelina: Tell us about your WIP.

K.D. Hilt:  I have multiple WIP the three main ones are the journal edition of my short story series, which will be a collection of said stories with bonus material. The second is a high school romance between the pastors daughter and the bad boy of a small town in Nebraska, although right now they go to a boarding school near the city of Kearney. The third is a paranormal Medieval fantasy book where the two kingdoms have been at war since the kings had become werewolves, the four main characters are the two kings children and are all friends.

Angelina: Thank you for hanging out with us. Please share your social links where readers can follow you.
