So, I’m going to start with this –
Notebooks…they are like Achilles heels for authors. We find them pretty. We pick them up, look through all the pages, and then waste money on them. Do we waste money on them?
No. We may think so if we don’t actually use them after getting them, but what if an inspirational moment strikes at a random moment? You have a nice notebook at your fingertips.
Nowadays, we’re so lost in our computers and laptops that we forget how good it feels to write in a real notebook with a pen or a pencil. I forgot that myself until one of my author friends got me a leather notebook with a dragon on it. I left the notebook near my computer and decided to spend some of time thinking on what to use it for.
I mean – a dragon notebook! It’s special. You guys know how I adore dragons. I mean there’s even one in my logo!
Yesterday, my best friend messaged me about a children’s book. She said that a friend gifted it for her son. It looked really cool. A couple hours later it clicked.
The notebook had no lines. Just white pages, waiting to be filled. So, why not try to write a children’s story?
Now, I know what you’re thinking. Angelina is a contemporary romance and a paranormal adventure author….but is she a children’s books author?
The answer-
No clue.
But, the notebook is giving me something to try. It allows me to try drawing again. It allows me to think about kids and that I can do since I have a little toddler. I started writing the children’s story yesterday and I’m super excited. Something new. Something different. Something that didn’t come to me when I was staring at an empty Microsoft Word document. It remained empty. But a little motivation from two friends allowed me to try something new.
Wish me luck, guys.
If you’re only writing on a computer or have for years, try writing in a notebook again or at least look at one. You may get an inspiration you haven’t been waiting for.

Angelina, this is beautiful. I knew there was bigger reason for being inspired by my snarky spirit guide, to pick that particular notebook! I mean seriously, I looked through all sorts of dragon objects but that was the one that Josh picked out for you!
I can’t wait to see your finished book! I’m sure it’ll be a work of art and a fun story for sure.
