For my review of book 1, go here: The Land of Stories (The Wishing Spell)

For my review of book 2, go here: The Land of Stories (The Enchantress Returns)

For my review of book 3, go here: The Land of Stories (Beyond the Kingdoms)

Please don’t read this review if you haven’t read the first three books. There are some spoilers.

This book is a continuation from the cliffhanger of book 3 and boy was that a cliffhanger. I mean… Alex saw her father! And thank goodness that later the twins learned the truth. I did say about spoilers. There are more jumps between what’s happening in the Otherworld, fairy tale world, and fiction worlds. I’m wondering if Alex will ever see Arthur again, that was an interesting twist that Chris added.

What I really liked was the Masked Man won, well relatively, because it added more realism into the story line. It made everything more dire and interesting, something that would have been missing if Chris did not add the twists about the Masked Man. Well done.

Also, I would say that this is a Harry Potter equal. However, it’s more for middle grade kids and not for older teens because Harry Potter did turn darker and darker. These series, one can read still at age 12 when the characters are 14 and probably still enjoy it.

Stay tuned for my reviews for the rest of the books in the series. Bought book 5 on Sunday.

Recommend to middle grade kids and adults who love fairy tales.
