This is my second time reading about mermaids and the secrets of the deep. This is a story about Lissie, who was forced to become a mermaid by an evil merman leader who wants ultimate power over humans and merfolk. The only that keeps Lissie from going insane is the good side and Patrick, her true love.

It is well written, interesting, and has great descriptions. I applaud Meghan for her great work. Though the beginning was really sad about Hector and there were some scary scenes throughout, it was all done in a nice pace and wonder. It does end on a cliffhanger and it would be interesting to read book 2 to see how Lissie would learn the skills of a mermaid. Oh, and I was impressed with Patrick’s skills, he really didn’t waste his 700 years of being alive.

Recommend for eighteen and over.
