Book Review: Dead Wrong (Blackmore Sisters Mystery Book 1)

Okay, so I got this book in April and tried to start it maybe 10 times but couldn’t get passed the first chapter. I kept getting stuck on the same paragraph and frankly speaking found the first pages to be boring. However, I didn’t give up and finally was able to read it all the way through in October!

So this lady gets killed and the sheriff decides to blame one of the Blackmoore sisters. Good thing that the police force has a new cop who smells something fishy and helps out the Blackmoore sisters. It’s a great read (once you get passed the first pages) and the characters are awesome, especially the cat! That cat literally saves the Blackmoore sisters on multiple occasions. I’m not going to say how so read it yourself. ^_^

I recommend to young adults who like cozy mysteries, awesome cats and are cat people, romance, and attics.

Spoiler Alerts

The adventure continues. Gabrielle has now lived for centuries as others and is finally ready to go after Arawn with a team of excellent killers during the age of Adolf Hitler. What fun!

What I liked –

Gabrielle is wiser and had trained her next body since childhood for a fight so she would be prepared. She gets to travel with a band of 4 people (herself included) who are on a mission to kill Adolf Hitler and boy what a ride that was. Here’s where it got interesting. At about maybe 70% of the book, she thinks that she’s done with the mission and is wondering of what will happen to her. I was wondering as well because she was really on about destroying Arawn. But, the author did it. He added more twists into the last 30% of the book, including a preview into his next series. It made me question a lot of what she went through. Oh, and I liked the part where she saw the souls that she saved over her journey…I almost cried cause it was an emotional scene. Well done Zachary !!!

I actually didn’t catch any typos this time!

Nice choice of time in history.

I recommend to young adults who like paranormal fantasy, adventure, strong characters, and the past.

Okay, so in place of Abe and Mae West, and Elvis… we get Marilyn Monroe.  I believe that Miss Pressey did a good job bringing out the sex symbol in her story line. 😉

Things get much darker and another psychic becomes of importance. With the shadow people out to get her, she needs to figure out the psychic, the girl who’s interested in witchcraft and how to keep a relationship with the sexy coffee shop owner, oh and friendship with her bestie.

Though, I give this book 5 dragon paws or stars… there is one thing that I’m disappointed with…I mean seriously who leaves off a story like that? With- the end? There needs to be one more book in the series…especially after what happened during the investigation with the other psychic! So, Miss Pressey, I request another book…please?! ^_^ Thank you in advance.

This is a darker reading for anyone who likes to read about romance, ghosts, and creepy homes. I highly recommend. A good continuation to book 3.

Cheetah, In loving memory…

Today, I am remembering my beautiful cat, Cheetah. She was born on July 22, 2001 and passed away on August 18, 2017 at 3:56 PM by my sister’s and mine side. It was heartbreaking.

She was my first pet in the United States. My mother and I spent weeks looking for a black female cat for you see, the ones that we found were males, and then we finally found her. She had a sister and I wish that we could have taken both of them, but my mother and I knew that my dad would be furious so we chose our Cheetah. My mother has a tradition of owning a female black cat by the name of Cheetah and so this tradition continued with my first pet in the United States.

When we brought her home and let her explore her new surroundings…we lost her the same day! Talk about, embarrassing. We moved everything around, and unhooked the bookcases from the wall after finding a hole that she could have used to get in and she wasn’t there. We ended up finding her under the sink. There was a hole that we didn’t know that existed and she used it to hide between the dishes…smart girl. After that, we covered that hole with a big towel so she couldn’t hide there. A nice memory. ^_^

Another fun memory is when she grew up a little and learned to climb stairs. Back then, I used to sleep with my door open and I woke up due to little stalking sounds. I was scared! I even thought that I had a ghost visitor (I did see a ghost once…it was at a neighbors house, don’t judge). But, it was Cheetah, the explorer! From then on, I started closing my door because I couldn’t have her in bed yet because I was scared of crushing her and wanted to keep her safe.

There is also a sad memory. At one point of her cat life, she got really sick where doctors said that they didn’t know what to do and said that maybe it was the right decision to put her to sleep. My mother and I refused to believe that. When she was sick, she would crawl to her cat littler box to do her business. She would roll in and roll out. My mother and I told her countless times, that it was okay to do her business on the towels, on the floor, anywhere really just to save energy. My mother stayed home for a week with her from work and rocked her close. After a week, her strength returned and she felt safe. From that moment, she became a lot nicer and loved my mother. She loved me less, but still we were her humans and my mother and I were happy that she lived!

Cheetah was there during a lot of memories- of when boys threw rocks at my window to apologize or confess to me in their love, when I went off to school dances or proms (I’ve been to three proms), when I was sick and when I was happy. She was there for my high school graduation when I received my Bachelor degree. She was also there when I received my masters. She there for a lot of memories like that and I’m thankful.

She did a number with her claws on my future husband when he was just a boyfriend. His arms were so scratched up that people asked if he was a cutter….what a cat! He still loved her, too and cried when he heard that she had passed away.

She was also there when I was pregnant. Boy, was she excited about meeting my little one. Whenever I would lay down for rest, she would walk over and lay near my tummy, purring. I’m so glad that she got to meet my son. She got to know him for his fist six months. I’m sad that I didn’t let her near him too much, I was afraid that she would scratch him by accident or that he would be scared, but I could see that she loved him.

Yes, she was there for a lot of my memories and I hope that she will always stay in my memories!

Thank you for listening,

Angelina

Okay, so in place of Abe and Mae West, we get Elvis. It was hilarious reading the part where Larue sees Elvis for the first time. I was giggling!

Though with Elvis around, we also get a case where a TV crew is involved. That’s not all, it suddenly got dark…the story. Things are a little different in this one, we get bad spirits, case of an ex-girlfriend, and exorcism. This story is more action packed and more interesting… mainly due to so many things going on. ^_^

Good luck to Larue with everything!

This is a darker reading for anyone who likes to read about romance, ghosts, and mediums. I highly recommend. A good continuation to book 2 and it starts off right where book 2 ended. ^_^

Okay, so Abe moved on and Mae West takes his place. Larue is one lucky gal to get all the attention from famous ghosts.

It gets more serious for Larue in this one. Not only is she still not lucky in love (again someone is after Callahan), but also there’s a new guy in town. With her past experience from her last case and learning that witchcraft exists, Larue, is confused, angry, and determined to yet again fight for the man that she’s interested in. It doesn’t help that her best friend, Mindy, suddenly hates her. Larue is in for another big ride!

Larue is getting better at solving the complex life that she lives, but still is a little slow to realizing who is behind the mischief.

Oh, and of course, she gets two other ghosts who have opinions on everything, including a young man who is in love with Larue. I loved his (Anthony’s) character, he added entertainment to the read.  Also, having a recently departed ghost helped for Larue because she had to handle less stress. I mean ghosts are stressful…the way that they don’t leave her alone that is. 😉

This is a light reading for anyone who likes to read about romance, ghosts, and mediums. I highly recommend. A good continuation to book 1 and it starts off right where book 1 ended. ^_^

Book Review: Me and My Ghoulfriends: A Psychic Cozy Mystery (Larue Donavan Book 1)

This was a funny read. I really liked how Miss Pressey depicted Abe Lincoln. That was actually why I chose to read it…after I read the part where the president gives dating advice to a medium.

One minus of the story line is that the main character, Larue Donavan, was a little slow to solve the mystery of what was happening to her love interest, Callahan. Though, after one finishes this novel, one may get why she was so slow at it, but her best friend, Mindy, was faster than the medium.

What’s different about this ghost story, you ask?

Well for starters, you get to spend time with Abe Lincoln. Two, you get to spend time with Larue, who knows a lot about being a medium and ghosts and never ever thought about any other type of paranormal activity. Another thing was that after each mission, she would take the ghosts with her…as long as she had room in her car for them that is.

This is a light reading for anyone who likes to read about romance, ghosts, and mediums. I highly recommend.
