Wrap-up of 2018 in #Books

2018 books

My goal for 2018 was to read 25 books. I read 26! I know it was a small goal but with being a new mom, it was a good goal that could be met.

My top favorite 10 from that list are:

  1. Shear Magic
  2. The Harbinger
  3. Delightfully Witchy
  4. Happily
  5. Chevalier
  6. Land of Stories
  7. The Nanny Song
  8. Aggravated Momentum
  9. The Things we learn when we’re dead
  10. The Vampire wants a wife

You can find all of my reviews on the blog. ^_^

I hope you all had a good reading year!

Why do authors write? #amwriting #amreading #books #author

Is it because we’re good at it? Is it because we enjoy it?

Everyday, authors post about bookish things – well, the authors who blog anyway. We post about writing tips, about our own books, and about our author journey. Once in a while, we write about random stuff. But, that is blog posts.

Why do we write books?

I can’t talk for every author, but I can mention three things on why I write books –

  • I’m not sure a 100% that I’m good at it, but I have stories inside my head that I want to share with the world and the best way to share is to publish. I can always write and share it with my friends, but according to them – all write and they don’t have time to read all of their friends works. Internet strangers become our best friends and even better if they review. Shameless plug -Please read my novels and leave reviews. I need to get past 20 reviews on each book!
  • I enjoy it. When I share my work with others, I become giddy and excited. I think up different scenarios in my head of their future reactions. Sometimes, it’s about good responses and sometimes it’s about the bad ones. Either way, I loved the responses from Lily on my latest book that is with my editor at the moment. The best thing about that feedback was that she read the raw, unedited version with a TON of mistakes! Love that girl.
  • Books are an endless pool of knowledge. Thanks to writing, I learned that my English is horrible! I accept it and that’s why some deity created editors and proofreaders. Thank the deity for those awesome people. I also learned about marketing techniques that actually help me bargain in other areas of my life.

If you’re an author, why do you write? Who are you thankful for, that helps you with your writing?

Until next time,

After editing, it’s going to Jeyran for proofreading. She’s already aware of it and can’t wait to read the polished version. She was the one manuscript critiquing so I get it. Hehe.

My main character Catherine (Cat) works as a manager at a bank. She deals with customer relations and event planning. Since the story starts on December 16th, 2017, she’s all about event planning and not customer relations.

Anyway, I’m getting off topic. When one walks into a branch (at least in California), it’s all about the look. The tellers, the bankers, the managers are dressed in suits…you can forget to see casual. But, have you noticed the shoes? I believe that shoes is a way for the workers to speak their individuality and I like it… though Cat doesn’t understand that and hates high heels!

Here’s a pair that I would love to have:

They don’t have it in my size!!! But I so would love that pair. I wouldn’t be able to wear them to work!

What is your dream pair? Would be able to wear it to your workplace?

novella blurb

Follow the Snowflakes: A Christmas Novella (Release Date: December 15, 2017)

At 28, it’s bad to be single. After four years of relationship struggles, Cat is ready to try anything.

That’s when her friend tells her about her class’ Dear Santa letters. One little boy asked for a new mommy, and she suggests Cat meets the kid’s dad, just to see where things go. Cat figures it can’t hurt…until she meets a stranger in the midst of a car accident. The man is handsome with a sad look in his eyes. He still wears a wedding band and she’s not sure his heart’s available, even if he makes her heart race. But, maybe he’s a widower? Cat wonders if she should resign herself to being an old maid, or whether she could possibly be the answer to a little boy’s Christmas wish, unless there’s a third option – a future with the stranger.

about the author

ANGELINA KERNER is a self-published author of paranormal and lighthearted romance. She’s the wife of a photographer/physicist, and the mother of a cute little toddler, but she’s also been a dancer, a psychologist, an anthropologist, a geographer, a dreamer, and an adventurer. She does her best writing while being bothered by her cats, taking care of her son, in dressing rooms while waiting for family to try on clothing, and at home in sunny California. Angelina loves to play goddess-dragon matchmaker, transporting readers to a place where young goddesses have lovable flaws, the Fates plan to dethrone, the universe is endless and untamed, and dragons roam free! She also loves to write carefree romance where one can finish reading with a smile.
