Book Review: Story of a Secret Heart

Book Title: Story of a Secret Heartstory

Book Author: Cassi Ellen

Source: Kindle Unlimited

Rating: 5 Dragon Paws 5 paws

I met Cassi through WordPress last week. After reading her About section on her blog, I downloaded her book to read and here is my review.

Though there are some typos, this novel gets 5 dragon paws mainly due to the fact that Cassi is one strong female! I mean seriously, to write down her experiences in Australia and with the details of encounters, I would be not able to write something like even if it did something like that happen to me. I did almost set down the novel for good when I got to the chapter about Coco because those type of stories make me sad. I went through similar situations with my own cats and it hurt to read.

What I also learned was that British people are really nice and can’t say no. Considering that I don’t have British friends (unless you count my online best friend), I wouldn’t really know if it’s not true, though that topic came up a lot.

I recommend this novel to women who feel like they are loosing themselves so they can raise themselves up once more to tackle life and relationships. I did not see the ending coming at all.

Book Review: Death At A Diner (A Murder In Milburn #1)

Book Title: Death At A Diner (A Murder In Milburn #1)nancy

Book Author: Nancy McGovern

Source: Kindle Unlimited

Rating: 5 Dragon Paws 5 paws

This is a story of a small town, where no one wants to admit that there is a killer in the midst, except the protagonist, Nora. Nora went away ten years ago after her parents passed away and she just returned three months ago to start a diner with her best friend. Simple enough, except her best friend dies and then they find a second body.

The story is well written with memorable characters. It didn’t know about who was the killer until the last pages and that’s really something because usually, it’s easy enough to tell. The other books in the series are also on Kindle Unlimited.

I recommend this novel to sixteen and over readers.

Book Review: Dream Student (Dream #1)

Book Title: Dream Student dream

Book Author: J. J. DiBenedetto

Source: Downloaded for free from Amazon

Rating: 5 Dragon Paws 5 paws

Okay, so I saw this book on Amazon for downloading for free, however I didn’t know if there was a happy ending so I didn’t choose to read it until I read a blogger’s review letting me know that it ended on a good note.

It was interesting to read about events that happened in 1989, it gave a different view of America thought, honestly, besides technology becoming ‘super’ nothing really changed. It was really weird to read about sexually active college kids. My country was very closed at that time, and I don’t believe there would be fiction involving those type of college kids. It made me uncomfortable due the year of the events in the novel, but I decided not hold it against the author and still rate it at a 5.

The author did a terrific job with the suspense, character emotions, and wrote a really good novel. I can see that a lot of work went into it. I would recommend this novel for eighteen and over who like exploring the meaning of dreams, want to go back in time to 1989-1990, and who like solving cases.

Book Review: Union Street Boarding House: An Edwardian Mystery

Book Title: Union Street Boarding House: An Edwardian Mysteryunion-street

Book Author: Jamie Michele and Mary Rinehart

Source: Downloaded from Kindle Unlimited

Rating: 4 Dragon Paws 4

I would that this novel would fall under the category of mystery, cozy mystery.

It is about an event that had occurred at a boarding house of Mrs. Peterson. The event being of a murder of one of her tenants. It took me a chapter to get into the story line, mainly due to me not being used to reading the language in that format. It has some parts which made me cringe and I rather not have read them, mainly the ones to do with animals. Throughout reading this beautiful piece of work, I thought of a movie that I’ve seen a couple of years ago. How to murder your wife 1965

Jamie and Mary have come up with realistic characters which was a pleasure to follow. The main character of Mrs. Peterson is very believable and relatable… well could be if they were in similar familial situations. It was nice to see, a regular man, trying to solve the mystery. He was no Sherlock Holmes, but awesome to read because of his passion.

I recommend this novel to eighteen and over audience.

  • “Military science fiction set in 4987AD!😉 Lots of blood, sex and action packed into it, high octane baby!!”
    • Some science fiction authors write their story lines touching on the year
    • The easier would be to write blood and sex… action could be difficult.. well I’ll need chips and popcorn and soda to get creative. It will happen!

PS: If you guys have any ideas about the action, I may take them. 😉

      • Main character will be female since I think for this topic, it would be easier to write from a perspective that I may have better a better connection with

Book Review: Women in Science – 50 Fearless Pioneers Who Changed The World

Book Title: Women in Science – 50 Fearless Pioneers Who Changed The Worldsnip20160910_22

Book Author and Illustrator: Rachel Ignotofsky

Rating: 5 Dragon Paws 5 paws

This is a great book for young girls, women, women reading or science clubs, and men. The language is simple, straight to the point, and appealing to any audience because of the accompanying illustrations. Every woman has two pages, one for an individual drawing and the other is for one page of information. The information is: of when the woman was born, any accomplishments, and people who inspired them, and some facts.

One can find the list of women in the very beginning, learn about each of the 50 women, and glimpse at the section “More women in science.” What I liked about that section was that the last woman is left blank and it says “The next great scientist could be you!” That is an inspiration for young girls who are thinking about careers and what to do after high school. The book also provides an illustrated glossary section and a list of sources that Rachel used for this book.

I will be buying a couple of copies as gifts for March 8, International Women’s Day. ^_^

I received this book from Blogging for Books for this review.
