★★★★★-This was such a great story –
“This was such a great story. We get to see a young girl who isn’t inhibited by her handicap. Even though she is blind, she is a fiery heroine who takes it all in and makes the best of it. Angelina Kerner did a great job describing Chanel and how she uses her other senses. and Leon is just the best. I absolutely loved him.”
-Jill, Goodreads Reviewer

★★★★-This is an interesting concept for a book –
“This is a 3 1/2 stars
This is an interesting concept for a book . Chanel has been blind since birth but that hasn’t stopped her from doing her best at all she does . Even when she starts taking an experimental treatment . She has to take a pill every seven hours to see if it will bring back her sight . Then the one day she is attacked by the paparazzi about her father’s political views. Her parents decide that her being a senators daughter she needs a body guard . When they meet they don’t like each other very much . Will they survive to realize that they love each other and will Chanel’s eye sight come back .
This book is a good young adult read . The author does a great job describing the world of the blind . The characters are sweet and well written but there were a couple of times that I just couldn’t connect with the main characters . Chanel and Leon are characters that you will love or hate . . She al is independent and is not unfamiliar with nail salons, museums , going bowling and having fun . She is tough but also a little sheltered . Leon is the strong silent type. He is sexy and loves books . They are the perfect match .
The author does take us on a journey of how it is to be blind since birth and what a person would be like . The author does a great job in that aspect of the book . The story between Leon and Chanel was good but there were times where it kind of felt a little clumsy . Maybe I just didn’t connect with them as much as I should . Over all I enjoyed the story and will read more from this author .”
-Patricia, Goodreads Reviewer

★★★-A struggle –
“I’m really struggling with how to word my review for this novella. I like the story and thought it was interesting, I cared about the characters and wanted to know what was going to happen to them.
I think the author did a nice job of describing what it is like for someone who is blind. There were a few moments that seemed disjointed and clumsy. The phrasing and word choice used had reading through sentences or paragraphs to make sure I was understanding what the author was trying to convey.
The story moves along at a brisk pace, I read it in one sitting. There are story elements that are brought in that aren’t really explored or they are dropped all together. I would like to have seen these storyline threads explored more.
Overall, I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more from this author..”
-Kristine (A Cozy Booknook) , Goodreads Reviewer

★★★★★-I love that this book shows her capabilities more than her limits. –
I love that this book shows her capabilities more than her limits.
So much beauty in reading about a young woman who accomplishes so much. That she had extra struggle to do so is almost dimmed by her capacity to overcome. Yet better understanding the work and patience it took her to do so is amazing. Sweet love story with hope to brighter days ahead.”
-Staci, Goodreads Reviewer

★★★★★-A great story with an interesting twist.–
“A great story with an interesting twist. As you read the book you find out things you don’t know about the characters. The story definitely draws you in and makes you want to see how everything turns out. A must read!!!”

★★★★-Very interesting take on Greek mythology–
“Very interesting take on Greek mythology and nice twist to make it into something new. I’ve read a few books by this author and she’s great at making you feel like you’re right there in the story. Very descriptive and interesting. Would love to read more about this.”
-Jill, Goodreads Reviewer

★★★-This is a hard one to rate/review–
“This is a hard one to rate/review. I liked the story. I liked the tasks Gardenia needed to complete and the dragons and the Gods/Goddesses and Greek Mythology. I do think this story was kind of all over the place. Things came too easy for Garden it seemed. She was a little selfish, arrogant, and petty. She calls her family liars and greedy among other things. To give her the benefit of the doubt she grew up the same way somewhat. Yes, she is a little different but she’s shown the same traits in the book. I liked her but not all that much. I did feel for her because she was singled out because she thought a little different. She’s young but isn’t a child but surely acted like it at times. There was an abundance of telling in this book but not necessarily showing the readers much. Garden has to get through 13 days and she’s mastered a slow 4. So, obviously each book will be 4 days. These dragons’ personalities took me awhile to understand and like. They grew on me though. I think I would like to read book 2 at some point..”
-Monica, Goodreads Reviewer

★★★★-Overall rating: 4–
“An interesting look into the education of gods and goddesses as well as their creations. The main character, Gardenia, plays a spoiled youngster to a tee. She is exhausting but I do realize she is exactly as this author wants her to be. Having her reach out to dragons for assistance opened up many questions for me, which in turn kept me reading. This book is entertaining and can be read in an afternoon..”
-Patti, Goodreads Reviewer

★★★★★-One of my all-time favorite perspective on the old Gods. –
“What better than the rebellious youngster to stir the plot. So many old stories told of monumental feats. Yet here is a fresh new start. A love story combined with just what the egotistical hierarchy needed.”
-Staci, Goodreads Reviewer

★★★★★-I loved this book.–
“I loved this book. I have read a few of the other books by this author and decided to take a chance on this one. I couldn’t put it down. Written well and the story flows and does a very good job of explaining the Gods and Goddesses in the story and their relationship to each other. Also includes a very cool and different love story. I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series!”
-Teri Ditchman, Goodreads Reviewer

★★★★-I was actually surprised that I enjoyed reading this story as much as I did–
“I was actually surprised that I enjoyed reading this story as much as I did.
Gardenia has been punished by Zeus to do a 13 day creational lesson that will take her a century to complete. Instead of choosing among her family for her teachers, she chooses to seek out the first race, the dragons.
By the end of this story, Gardenia has completed 4 days of her lessons.
Found her soulmate, a dragon nonetheless and not everyone is happy that the universe would bless a union between enemies.
Now she’s got to hide out among her new mates race because the Fates have a plan brewing that puts Gardenia right in the middle of a war.
I can’t believe this story ended the way it did. But I can see the need, because from the looks of things, there’s going to be so much going on and a new war between the Gods/Goddesses and Dragons as well as the Fates plans that it would make for a L A R G E book. I can’t wait until the second one releases. .”

9th month of life- mother and author combo

He’s 9 months old and is adorable. ^_^

Let’s see, this month was exciting.

My son tried raspberries, real pears, and kiwi. He found them to be bitter and fantastic at the same time. So many onesies that needed to be washed with extra care…especially from the raspberries! I haven’t given him any blueberries and he had no reaction to anything new. Thank the stars!

I’m still doing half day work from home and half day from the office. It’s still very emotional for me and I tend to be okay with co-sleeping. It just feels so much better to sleep next to him. Hubby is a little annoyed but he still finds room on the bed. He’s against co-sleeping, but he’s not a mother who’s having separation issues. Soon, it will be full day in the office and boy, I don’t want to know about my emotions then. Oh, he can sleep with one arm out for a couple of hours – so from feeding to feeding. Cutie! When, he wakes up, he pulls at my bangs to let me know that he’s awake and ready for breakfast. He doesn’t go back to sleep after that.

He has 3 teeth!

There was much more crawling this month! Good boy!

Halloween was awesome! We actually went trick-or-treating after a couple of people at work said that it’s okay to take out a baby. The candy is for the mother who works really hard. So, my little cuties was a Penguin and I was The Mother of Dragons! I told my boss and friends that I was Mother of Dragons and Penguins! They had a laugh.

Anyway, his first Halloween turned out rather well. I got a ton of photos for the album so all good!

So, Deity’s Soulmate is only book 1 in the series. In book 2, there will be more gods, goddesses, dragons. Some drama with the Fates, and some new beings that were really fun to write about. I really really want to talk about them, but can’t…well not yet. Oooo they are so fun.

Anyway. I got some feedback from readers about my dragons. Feedback being – too many male dragons.

My best friend sent me a Dragon figurine and said that’s my next female dragon.

Here she is:

Isn’t she pretty????

So my question for you guys – what should she be protecting? Yes, she’s going to be Gardenia’s teacher but she could also be protecting something hidden in that chest.

Pretty!

Thank you!

Time.

Gardenia has a 100 years of learning about creation… a 100!

One can imagine that time had to flow differently from time to time during the story line.

There were two instances that made the time go faster. One, she put herself to dream about the past of the gods and the other she sped time in order to learn about one day of creation.

If you could live for hundreds of years and had an ability to fast forward time, would you do it? Or would you want to live every second of your existence?

Thank you!

Something about me – I’m bad with humor. Sometimes, it takes me a long time to understand a joke. I’m better with Russian/Ukranian jokes than English, but I still like humor.

Since, I couldn’t make Gardenia funny and I couldn’t make her singer because well I don’t sing, I added a pair of funny dragons/twins. They may not get their 5 minutes on a stage and make the crowd wild with laughter, but to me they can be funny. ^_^ That’s important.

Tell me a joke, a one that you find funny every time! Make me laugh. ^_^

Deity’s Soulmate is an adventure. It’s about a goddess named Gardenia, who travels the stars in search of teachers. Those teachers just happen to be dragons.

The first dragon that she found was Villam. He’s a big and serious type of guy. Also, the twin dragons are related to him. Read the book to find out how.

Gardenia finds him in a dark cave.

If you were writing the story and you had to have Gardenia look for a dragon, where do you think that she would find one?

Universe of possibilities!

book blurb
From author Angelina Kerner (Seven Hours: Challenge Accepted) comes an all-new fantasy series about Gardenia, a daughter of Athena, and her 100 years of coursework on how to create whole new worlds and subjects of her own.
A sheltered schoolchild in a realm of condescending gods and goddesses, Gardenia goes to Earth on a dare to witness the unsavory side of mankind for herself. Believing she can do better, she undertakes the formation of an entire galaxy, but without permission from Zeus.
Zeus disciplines her by assigning an epic 13-fold creational lesson destined to take her a century to complete.  But he is taken aback once more when she makes an odd choice.  She vows to fulfill this knowledge quest by tracking down a lost race of dragons, and discovering the secrets they’ve kept since time began.
Searching the universe to meet even one dragon may be a fool’s errand, but that’s the least of her worries.  For ancient wartime resentments linger between the nations of dragons and deities, and some dragons would attack Gardenia on sight!
Yet she ventures out undaunted, learning unexpected things about nomadic life, tender love, and mortal peril along the way.  The biggest surprise of all, though, goes by the name of Ri.  Ri may be the man of her dreams, the voice in her head, the dragon she’s seeking, or all these things and more…
Meanwhile, the Fates brew sordid plans of their own and Hera jealously sets traps and trials for Gardenia at every chance.  What’s a young goddess to do?  Flight or fight?

book blurb (1)
These Gods and Goddesses appear in Deity’s Soulmate:

Gardenia: Doesn’t exist. She’s a made-up character. Goddess of Creation.

Athena: Greek Goddess. Goddess of reason, wisdom, intelligence, skill, peace, warfare, battle strategy, and handicrafts. She’s Gardenia’s mother.  A bad singer but a good mother. She meets one of the dragons – Villam. She’s the creator of  the Milky Way Galaxy.

Repun Kamui: Ainu God. God of Water.

Hermes: Greek God. God of boundaries, travel, communication, trade, language, and writing. He’s the creator of the Black Eye Galaxy.

Apollo- Greek God. God of music, arts, knowledge, healing, plague, prophecy, poetry, manly beauty, and archery. That’s a lot! Gardenia likes him very much and thinks of him as her father. Apollo is the creator of the Nest Way Galaxy.

Zeus: Greek God. King of the gods, ruler of Mount Olympus, and god of the sky, weather, thunder, lightning, law, order, and justice. Gardenia is not a fan. He’s the creator of the Pinwheel Galaxy.

Hera: Greek Goddess. Queen of the gods, and goddess of marriage, women, childbirth, heirs, kings, and empires. Hates Gardenia with a passion. She’s a problem to Gardenia.

Harvest: Doesn’t exist. Shes’s a made-up character. Goddess of Creation. Hera’s favorite daughter. Harvest is older than Gardenia but not by much. She wants to be better than her and to prove to everyone that she’s all that. Think Mean Girls.

Aphrodite – Greek Goddess. Goddess of beauty, love, desire, and pleasure. She visits Gardenia once or twice. She can be extremely curious. She’s also the creator of Findlandian Galaxy where Gardenia takes a break from studying about dragons.

Hekate: Greek Goddess. The goddess of magic, witchcraft, the night, moon, ghosts and necromancy. She’s Gardenia’s favorite aunt. She is the creator of the Maha Galaxy.

Artemis – Greek Goddess. Virgin goddess of the hunt, wilderness, animals, young girls, childbirth, and plague. Twin sister of Apollo though she hardly cares about Gardenia like many other gods. She’s the creator of the Hoag’s Object Galaxy.

Demeter: Greek Goddess. Goddess of grain, agriculture, harvest, growth, and nourishment.

Ceto: Greek Goddess. Sea Goddess.

Alectrona: Greek Goddess. Goddess of the morning.

Chronus: Greek God. God of time.

Hades: Greek God. God of the underworld and the dead.

Kratos: Greek God. God of strength and power. He’s the creator of the Andromeda Galaxy.

Cupid or Eros: Greek God. The god of desire, erotic love, attraction and affection

Ares – Greek God. God of war, bloodshed, and violence. He doesn’t have a big role in book 1, but will have a bigger one in book 2.

Hephaestus: Greek God. God of fire, metalworking, and crafts.

Asclepius: Greek God/hero. God of medicine.

Medeina: Lithuanian Goddess. Ruler of forests, trees and animals. She’s the creator of the Sunflower Galaxy.

My favorite goddess is Hekate. She’s totally awesome and no wonder that she’s Gardenia’s favorite Aunt. 😉

Who’s your favorite God/Goddess? Where are they from and why?

Thank you!
